GERMANY: Kelvion is the new name for a broad portfolio of companies, including Searle, Goedhart and Kuba, formed from the former GEA Heat Exchangers business.

Private equity firm Triton acquired GEA’s heat exchanger business for €1.3bn in April last year. GEA Heat Exchangers comprised 13 companies supplying products across a wide range of markets. Its air conditioning and precision climate control interests – Denco, Happel and DELBAG – were renamed DencoHappel in August. The remaining part of the business – Power Cooling Solutions – will be renamed before the end of the year.

Interim CEO of Kelvion, Michael Andersen, explains that the new company name pays homage to thermodynamics pioneer Lord Kelvin.

“The name Kelvion is new, but we continue as global experts in heat exchange with plate heat exchangers, finned-tube heat exchangers, shell-and-tube heat exchangers, modular cooling towers and refrigeration heat exchangers”, he said.

”We are connecting the best of two worlds: in Kelvion, a long tradition and the solid expertise of our employees meets the flexibility of a medium-sized company.”
